This is a beautiful little promise ring or first engagement ring. The diamond has been tested and is a diamond. It is about a .10 to .12 pt diamond which is a round briliant cut and prong set high onto the band itself. The inside of the ring is marked 10k but is very faded and hard to read. It also has "Love Story" printed on the inside. I am fairly confident that the ring is from the 1960s to 1970s. It is a size 4-3/4 but is totally sizable. The band has a three section look to it and the upper and lower bands are striated. The middle band is smooth gold. The diamond is probably an SI and near colorless. It is that good!
